Official managed hosting

Hermes Cloud

Hermes Cloud is Nous Research's own hosting for Hermes Agent. You deploy a dedicated, always-on Hermes instance from Nous Portal without running a server yourself. It is billed daily from your Portal credit balance: about $0.56/day (Medium) or $1.09/day (Large) while running and $0.03/day while stopped. Model and tool usage are billed separately on top.

Deploying requires at least $2 in Portal credit or an active Portal subscription. It is one of several ways to keep Hermes online — compare it with your own machine, a VPS, and third-party hosts on Hermes hosting options.

Checked against official Nous Research sources on September 26, 2026 (Hermes Agent v0.21.5).

Instance sizes and pricing

From the Hermes Cloud page on portal.nousresearch.com, checked September 26, 2026. Prices exclude inference and tool usage.

SizeRunningStoppedResources
Medium$0.56/day$0.03/day10 concurrent sessions, 2 GB RAM, 4 vCPUs
Large$1.09/day$0.03/day20 concurrent sessions, 4 GB RAM, 8 vCPUs
  • Billing: charged once a day (UTC), in arrears, from your Nous credit. Running time is compute metered to the second plus storage; a stopped instance pays storage only and keeps its data.
  • Charges usually appear within a day or two, once the hosting provider finalizes the day.
  • You can change size at any time from the agent's controls.

What that means per month (our arithmetic, 30 days):

ScenarioHosting onlyPlus
Medium, running 24/7≈ $16.80Model tokens + Tool Gateway calls
Large, running 24/7≈ $32.70Model tokens + Tool Gateway calls
Stopped all month≈ $0.90Nothing else unless you use it
Sources disagree: The Hermes Cloud features list says instances “scale to zero when idle” and that “you only pay while it works”, while the pricing FAQ says running instances are metered on uptime. The page does not define “idle”. The 24/7 figures above are therefore an upper bound for hosting, not a measured bill.

What you get

  • One-click deploy: choose a name, model, and size; Nous picks the nearest region with capacity (14 locations listed, including Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Jose, Toronto, Tokyo, Singapore, Mumbai, and Sydney).
  • Persistent workspace: files, memory, and configuration persist whether the instance is running or stopped.
  • Browser dashboard: chat with the agent from its dashboard, opened from the Portal.
  • Messaging: connect channels such as Telegram and Discord (the Cloud page also lists Slack, Email, and CLI).
  • Isolation: each agent runs in its own container.
  • Updates: the release notes for v0.21.3 state that Cloud agents auto-update to the newest release tag, and Desktop's updater skips Hermes Cloud entries as platform-managed.

Deploy and connect

  1. Sign in at portal.nousresearch.com/cloud and add credit (or have an active plan).
  2. Open Cloud, name the agent, choose a model and size, and deploy.
  3. When provisioning finishes, open the agent's dashboard from the Portal to chat and connect messaging channels.

From Hermes Desktop: Settings → Gateways → Connection mode → Hermes Cloud signs in once and lists the agents on your account — no URL to paste. Register the Cloud instance as a connection and its bots appear in your Bot Mode roster next to local ones, able to message each other and share group chats.

From your local Hermes: Nous hosts an MCP server that lets your agent list, start, stop, resize, and cost-estimate your Cloud instances.

Third-party managed hosts also exist; they are not run by Nous Research and price differently. The hosting decision guide compares all of them, and Hermes cost adds up model spend.

Not tested by this site: We have not deployed a Hermes Cloud instance for this page. Uptime, performance, and real monthly bills are not verified here — only the published prices and documented behavior. Some third-party write-ups describe Hermes Cloud as a preview; the official Cloud page we checked does not use that label.
